Patient Information Specialist
The Patient Information Specialist supports the coordination of payment for services provided to all patients from registration to discharge. This role is accountable for providing information to, and maintaining relationships with, third party payers to obtain necessary benefit information, enhancing the optimal outcome for the patient in the most efficient manner.
- Supports the coordination of payment for services provided to all patients from registration to discharge.
- Provides information to, and maintains relationships with, third party payers to obtain necessary benefit information.
- Serves as a central area for patient registration information to pass.
- Aids staff in communication to necessary parties (including patients), managing insurance changes in names, benefits, and procedures to maximize reimbursement.
Compensation
Compensation: $20.00 - $28.00 per hour. Final compensation depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate Degree in related area strongly preferred.
- 1-2 years related experience and/or training specifically related to insurance benefits and verification processes.
- Knowledge of insurance and billing requirements, including CPT and ICD-9 coding for HCFA 1500 and UB-92 forms, medical terminology, pre-existing, coordination of benefits and Medicare.
- Strong computer skills.
