PATIENT FOOD SERVICES MANAGER
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Patient Services Manager to lead our Patient Services Team within a dynamic acute care environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily patient dining operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery, regulatory compliance, and a positive patient experience.
The Food & Nutrition Department supports a 514-bed academic medical center and provides a comprehensive range of services, including patient dining, retail food operations, catering, clinical nutrition support, and hospitality services. Operating seven days a week, the department is staffed by more than 100 dedicated professionals committed to delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered nutrition services while advancing the hospital's mission of excellence in patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage patient food service operations to meet the nutritional and service needs of diverse patient populations.
- Develop and implement departmental goals and service standards in alignment with medical and organizational objectives.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop patient services staff, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.
- Ensure compliance with prescribed diets and dietary modifications while supporting patient preferences and satisfaction.
- Monitor and drive patient satisfaction initiatives, ensuring service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and accrediting agency requirements, including HIPAA regulations, patient rights, and confidentiality standards.
- Participate in and lead patient experience programs, departmental meetings, and Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to enhance the overall patient dining experience and support optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Associate degree with at least one year of experience in food service, hospitality, healthcare nutrition services, or a related field; or a bachelor's degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Hospitality Management, or a related discipline.
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM), Registered Diet Technician (DTR), or Registered Dietitian (RD) credential preferred.
- Minimum of one year of food service management experience, preferably within an acute care or healthcare setting.
- ServSafe® Certification preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, electronic medical records (EMR), and diet office management systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and customer service skills with a commitment to patient-centered care.
