Patient Flow Coordinator - Prep/Recovery Unit - Per Diem

Position Summary

Responsible for communicating with the ambulatory surgery unit and the operating room in regards to the flow of the surgical patients. Communicates with the Endoscopy prep and recovery unit in regard to the flow of the Endoscopy patients. Keeps patients and families updated on the progression of the surgical/endoscopic schedule and notifies of any delays or alterations.

Education, License & Cert

• High school education or GED required.

Experience

• At least two years' experience working with patients.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills.
• Provides coordination of the surgical/Endoscopy schedule.
• Actively participates in maintaining a safe environment.
• Demonstrates organizational and time management skills.
• Recognizes and reports potential or actual problems in a timely manner.

Other Duties

• Follows hospital and nursing department policies and procedures during emergency or stressful situations including fire and disaster drills, and emergency situations.
• Assists in the orientation of new employees.
• Sets aside time to seek supervision and guidance when appropriate.
• Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate.
