Patient Financial Services, Cashier
About the role
The PFS Cashier is responsible for the daily preparation, posting, and balancing of payments, adjustments, and denials from healthcare third-party insurance payers and patients to patient claims. The role ensures accurate and efficient entry of remittance information and maintains the integrity of financial transactions within the patient accounting system.
Responsibilities
- Accurately and efficiently enter remittance information provided from insurance carriers and patients
- Maintain accuracy and assist in reducing unapplied cash and payment discrepancies
- Support the organization's revenue cycle by ensuring timely cash application
Requirements
- A minimum of a High School diploma or GED
- A minimum of 3 years' prior healthcare billing experience and knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of Word and Excel applications
- Ability to adapt to system changes, manage heavy call volume, be a self-starter, organized, and detail-oriented
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree and/or certifications in billing and coding preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish speaking is a plus
Physical Demands
- Lift stored document boxes up to 10 lbs.
