Patient Financial Coordinator
About the Role
Join our team in Maplewood as a full-time Patient Financial Coordinator on the PM Shift. This position serves a critical role in the clinic by helping patients understand the cost of recommended treatment and making appropriate financial arrangements with patients. Although the position is posted externally as Patient Financial Coordinator to help applicants recognize its focus on working with patients regarding their treatment plans, insurance benefits, and financial arrangements, the official internal job title is Treatment Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Review schedule daily for patient financial obligations
- Verify all patients’ insurance – state and commercial
- Collect payments and/or copays from patients
- Receive overflow calls from scheduling coordinators
- Receive and return calls from patients pertaining to financial quotes for treatment plans
- Schedule patient appointments as needed
- Answer patient questions regarding billing and payment options
- Process application for sliding fee scale and care grants
- Post payments on patient accounts
- Send out pre-estimates to patients
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of customer service experience, preferably within an office setting
- Experience discussing treatment plans, insurance benefits, and/or financial arrangements with patients
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Karen, or Hmong required
- No prior dental experience required
