Patient Escort I - Full Time - Evening Shift - 3pm - 11:30pm Shift - Every Other Weekend and Holiday - Newark Campus

About the role

Are you passionate about helping others and making a difference in a healthcare setting? We’re looking for a compassionate and reliable Patient Escort I to join our team and support patient care by ensuring safe and timely transportation throughout the hospital. Located at Christiana Hospital – Newark Campus.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport patients via stretcher, wheelchair, bed, or specialized vehicle to and from various hospital departments.
• Assist clinical staff with patient transfers.
• Maintain and care for transport equipment.
• Attend training sessions and departmental meetings.
• Follow safety protocols and report any hazards or unsafe conditions.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma preferred.
• Experience: 2 years of customer service experience preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Certification: Must be able to obtain BLS certification upon hire.

Qualifications

• Physical Requirements: Continuous standing, walking, pushing/pulling heavy equipment.
• Occasional bending, crouching, lifting.
• Exposure to cleaning agents, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases.

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods.
• Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
• Knowledge of hospital layout and body mechanics.
• Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.

Pay

Starting rate: $17.80 per hour. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate increases to $20.90 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate increases to $21.93 per hour. Actual salary may vary based on skills, relevant experience
