About the Role

The Patient Coordinator (PC) for the Center for Surgical Health (CSH) plays a central role in delivering surgical support services by coordinating day-to-day program activities, supporting operational workflows, and ensuring patients receive timely, compassionate, and equitable access to surgical care. CSH is a surgical support and education program designed to connect patients with Penn Medicine Attending Surgeons while engaging students and employees in the practice of surgery.

This position supports patients from referral through intake and connection with primary care. The PC will screen patients for program eligibility, enroll patients, collect and store patient information, and assist with organizing volunteer Personal Patient Navigator (PPN) trainings and onboarding. The ideal candidate is passionate about the CSH mission, highly organized, detail-oriented, and has experience in public health, healthcare, or social work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient intake and enrollment, including screening patients, explaining CSH services, confirming eligibility, and tracking patient progress.
• Recruit and support volunteer Personal Patient Navigators (PPNs) through marketing events and navigation assistance.
• Input and maintain accurate patient data in CSH Salesforce.
• Respond to operational queries in a timely manner and report progress to managers as requested.
• Organize, maintain, and ensure the accuracy of all patient documentation.
• Proactively support PPN-patient dyads throughout the perioperative continuum.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science and 1 to 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working in public health, healthcare, and/or social work.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Interest in higher education and community engagement, particularly within Philadelphia.
• Passion for the CSH mission and program activities.

Pay

Annual salary range: $47,313.00 - $49,554.00. Offers are based on candidate qualifications, experience, skills, and education, aligned with external market data and internal peer comparisons.

This position is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is contingent upon continued funding. Background checks may be required after a conditional job offer.
