Patient Coordinator

The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
• Collects monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures.
• Moves patients to/from the exam room.
• Provides preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Prepares the unit for transport in the mobile setting.
• Orders supplies and ensures the work area is properly stocked.
• Ensures accuracy of patient records.
• Schedules patient appointments and obtains insurance verification and/or authorization.
• Prepares medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
• Documents patient visits in various electronic systems and on written documents.
• Assists the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
• Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.

Position Requirements

• A High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
• CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology positions.
• Valid state driver's license required.
• Ability to work at several locations required.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
• Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
• Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit.
• The employee may be exposed to a strong magnetic field or radioactive material.
• May be exposed to blood/body fluids and infectious disease and environmental hazards such as exposure to noise, and travel.
