About the role
The Patient Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and patient care tasks to ensure a positive patient experience. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
- Performs patient registration in various systems.
- Answers all phone calls in a professional and courteous manner.
- Makes collections for time-of-service patient responsibility.
- Verifies insurance coverage and obtains prior authorization.
- Preliminarily screens patients prior to procedures, which may include medical history.
- Transports patients to/from the exam room.
- Assists in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
- Provides preliminary and post-procedure instructions to patients.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Orders supplies and ensures the work area is properly stocked.
- Ensures accuracy of patient records.
- Schedules patient appointments and obtains insurance verification and/or authorization.
- Prepares medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
- Aids the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient, physician, or contracted customer.
- Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
- CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire for Mobile Radiology and Oncology positions.
- CPR Certification is a plus for Fixed Radiology positions.
- Valid state driver's license required.
- Ability to work at several locations required.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
- Local travel may be required to support multiple sites.

Qualifications
- Preferred six months customer service or related experience and/or training.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
