About the role

The Patient Contact Center Representative/MA performs administrative support, medical, and technical services to contribute to the efficient day-to-day operations providing a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules patient appointments in tandem with the provider availability.
  • Interacts with patients in person and on the phone, assigned to Contact Center to address patient calls.
  • Greets patients at check-in, collects patient information, updates/maintains electronic records.
  • Handles visit payments, ensures the exam room has needed inventory for operation, and performs clinic administrative tasks.
  • Securely authorizes medications.
  • May include escorting patients to exam rooms, taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, assisting in procedures, preparing & administering medications and vaccines, laboratory/specimen collection/processing, addressing quality care gaps, and other duties as directed by provider.

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant Diploma.
  • Experience working in an environment performing tasks related to front and back office duties related to this position.
  • Prior EMR experience, preferably with EPIC.
  • A minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
  • Bilingual-English/Spanish (preferred).

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients of varying ages and multicultural backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated customer / patient service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Understanding of universal precautions, handling of bio-hazardous waste, specimen identification and transport.

Benefits

The full salary range for the Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator is $25.19 - $31.29 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position.
