About the Role
Develop your skills and knowledge as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) in a ten-week training program. PCTs at TMC work in a care team with an RN to provide patient care. Typical tasks include taking vital signs, helping patients with activities of daily living, and keeping patients clean.

BLS certification required.
Training Breakdown
The PCT training program is an 8-week program designed to introduce you to healthcare in general, and specifically to the role of the PCT at TMC.
- Weeks 1-2: Classroom and skills lab learning the basics for the role of patient care technician/assistant. Led by the TMC Clinical Education team at several locations on the TMC campus.
- Week 3: Clinical setting on a TMC Unit to integrate theory/skills learned in a classroom/skills lab environment.
- Week 4: Combination of clinical practice, additional classroom experience for specialty skills, a Final Written Exam, and final testing of skills learned.
- Weeks 5-8: Transition to Practice / Preceptorship.
- Weeks 9-10: Validation by an RN.
Candidates must be available between 8:00am - 4:30pm for training and will be assigned a 12-hour shift at the completion of the program on days or nights. All candidates sign a one-year contract. The interview process will also require the candidate to attend a unit shadowing experience.
