Key Responsibilities
- Performs assigned patient care duties including hygiene, comfort, rest, mobility, and elimination support.
- Affords assistance with patient procedures and emergencies as directed by RN/LPN.
- Records patient intake and output and documents observations accurately and in a timely manner.
- Supports patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Affords support in range of motion, ambulation, patient transfers, diet, and postmortem care.
- Observes and reports significant or unusual patient or environmental information to RN/LPN.
- Utilizes appropriate technology and equipment safely in the provision of care.
- Affords assistance in the use of clinical devices including bag-valve-mask, anti-embolism stockings, pneumatic compression stockings, oxygen, suction equipment, incentive spirometer, and emergency carts.
- Operates patient care equipment such as converter chairs, lifts, scales, beds, stretchers, wheelchairs, non-invasive blood pressure monitors, automatic thermometers, sphygmomanometers, pulse oximeters, and computers.
- Collections and transports patient specimens and ensures timely completion of applicable forms.
- Transports patients safely throughout the hospital as needed.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and members of the patient care team.
- Promotes a supportive and healing environment to enhance patient and staff satisfaction.
- Participates in unit-based and system-wide performance improvement programs as required.
- Collaborates with nursing staff to ensure individualized care is delivered according to patient needs.
Compliance & Safety
- Adheres to Standard Precautions, Infection Control procedures, and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Ensures compliance with standards of care, Department of Nursing policies, and hospital procedures.
- Might participate in research projects impacting patient care.
- Maintains hospital and unit-specific competencies.
