Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Med Surg

About the role

Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Assists with personal hygiene, takes vital signs, and changes bed linens. May serve and collect food trays, provide for between-meal nourishment, and clean, sterilize, store, and prepare other supplies.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Experience: None required; acute care and/or previous clinical experience preferred
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (American Red Cross or American Heart Association); if certified by American Red Cross, must obtain American Heart Association certification within 60 days of hire
  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification within 90 days of hire/transfer

Skills

• Preferred: Prior basic experience performing clerical or customer service duties with prior HUC training/experience in a clinical setting
• Ability to use computer-driven patient care equipment
• Strong organizational skills
