Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Med Surg (1E) - Full Time Days

Welcome to Holy Name, a medical center committed to providing comprehensive care that heals the body, mind, and soul. As a Patient Care Technician, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the nursing team and ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic patient care procedures under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Reports pertinent observations to the RN.
• Takes patient's vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and patient identified pain score).
• Maintains accurate Intake and Output on patients as assigned.
• Aids in personal hygiene care for patients, including complete and partial bed baths, tub baths, showers, PM care, incontinence skin care, hair and nail care, shampoos, and shaving.
• Provides skin care and back rubs, makes occupied and unoccupied beds, and assists with meal distribution and feeding patients who cannot feed themselves.
• Collects routine specimens of urine, sputum, and feces.
• Performs treatments such as enemas, ice collar, sitz baths, perineal care, Foley catheter care, SCD boots, and TEDs as per RN instruction.
• Assists with cardiac monitor leads and pulse oximetry placement as directed.
• Empties drainage bags/canisters, measures contents, and records on I&O.
• Assists with post-mortem care.
• Assists patients with getting into or out of bed, walking, using safe lift equipment, positioning patients, and transporting patients as requested.
• Assists in restraining patients as ordered by the physician and directed by RN.
• Cleans and organizes bedside units, utility rooms, nourishment areas, and nurses' station. Cleans and cares for unit equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in a related or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Strong interpersonal and team skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for actions.

Qualifications

• CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation HeartSaver CPR upon hire required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support American Heart Association upon hire preferred.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00/hour - $26.00/hour, based on factors such as employment status (Full/Part-Time or Per Diem), skills, education, and/or experience.
