Patient Care Technician - PCT CCHT - Dialysis

Overview

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support and collaborate with Registered Nurses in providing dialysis treatment to several patients at a time. This role is a regional float position covering outpatient centers in Illinois, Iowa, and Nebraska.

Job Description

• Assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated.
• Obtain and review pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight, and monitor patients' responses to dialysis therapy.
• Initiate and discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures, and evaluate patients before and after treatment.
• Perform and document interventions for unusual patient status, and evaluate vascular access during treatment.
• Prepare and organize supplies, and ensure proper cleaning and disinfection of equipment.
• Support the organization's Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and participate in process improvement activities.
• Complete and document treatment data accurately and timely, and prepare initial patient charts and lab requisitions.
• Train applicable direct patient care staff on appropriate programs under the supervision of a nurse.

Success Profile

Successful candidates should have prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience. They should also have a combination of technical skills and genuine passion for developing deep relationships with patients and improving their quality of life.
