Patient Care Technician - Operating Room City - Full Time Days
About the role
The Patient Care Associate Surgical Services performs direct and indirect patient care functions under the supervision of appropriately licensed personnel. They assist patients with personal care needs, participate in the plan of care, collect test specimens, document patient care activities, and may perform limited laboratory services.
Responsibilities
- Aid patients with personal care needs
- Communicate observations and data collection to the Clinical Associate
- Collect and prepare specimens for testing
- Document patient care activities
- Assist with limited laboratory services as directed
- Communicate with customers in a friendly, prompt, and caring manner
- Support the care team to meet customer needs and team objectives
- Assist other team members as needed
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent, with ability to read, speak, and write English fluently. Bilingual preferred.
- Current BLSHCP from the American Heart Association and six to nine months patient care experience or formal education from an accredited school required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members.
- Ability to be flexible, set priorities, solve problems, and use proper judgment in difficult situations.
- Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
Qualifications
- Educational requirement: High School degree or equivalent
- Experience: Six to nine months patient care experience or formal education from an accredited school required
