Patient Care Technician, Nights

Full-time night shift position located in Richlands, VA. Hourly pay range: $16.19 - $19.23.

About the role

Clinch Valley Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a night-shift Patient Care Technician. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will perform basic patient care activities and unit support tasks to promote safe, efficient care and patient throughput. This role involves assisting with activities of daily living, routine monitoring, maintaining a clean environment, and supporting nursing and physician staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
• Observe and promptly report abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
• Maintain clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
• Manage the tech desk and support nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
• Document care and activities per unit standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned; participate in performance improvement and required education.

Requirements

• Critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment.
• Rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems.
• Effective English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• SRNA or EMT license preferred.
• BCLS certification required; Handle with Care preferred.
