Patient Care Technician - Night Shift

About the role

Patient Care Technician responsible for delivering direct patient care, assisting with procedures, and supporting nursing staff on a medical-surgical unit.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living, physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies.
• Perform core nursing assistant duties such as vital signs, specimen collection, and Foley care.
• Perform at least four specialized tasks like phlebotomy, EKG, or IV removal.
• Report equipment issues, communicate effectively with departments, and maintain professional relationships.
• Provide patient and family education under RN supervision and support safety protocols.
• Document accurately in medical records and contribute to unit activities like responding to call lights and transporting patients.
• Develop and maintain competency in advanced skills including phlebotomy, EKG, and catheter removal, based on department needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Healthcare experience: 1 year, or 6 months as a CNA/PCT with competency, or enrollment in health sciences programs.
• Successful completion of PCT training and eRecord training.
• Preferred: EMT or Paramedic certification or ongoing training.
• Certifications: CPR (required within 30 days), ACLS preferred, BLS or CPR.
