Position Highlights

• Position: Patient Care Technician - Neurology Unit – Nights
• Location: Arlington Heights, IL
• Schedule: Full time, 36 hours/week, 7:00pm–7:30am, every other weekend required
• Orientation: Must be able to attend Monday–Thursday, approximately 8:00am–4:30pm during the first week
• Travel: No

What You Will Do

• Assists patients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, use of bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering call lights, bed making, etc. under RN/LPN supervision
• Assists with exercising and ambulating patients; uses correct body mechanics while assisting with mobility; maintains physical safety and comfort under RN/LPN supervision
• Obtains patient vital signs, input/output checks, and accu‑checks; reports abnormalities to the nurse
• Performs procedures as directed by RN/LPN, such as EKGs, perineal care, emptying foley bags, application of restraints, backrubs, etc.
• Collects specimens (urine, feces, sputum) and delivers as necessary
• Documents basic patient care into the electronic medical record
• Assists nursing and clerical staff with admitting, discharging, transferring, ambulating, transporting, and observing patients to ensure safety
• Answers unit phones and directs calls appropriately
• May perform duties of an Observation Assistant as needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited CNA course with successful CNA certification exam, OR EMT/paramedics training course, OR current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one major clinical medical or surgical rotation
• Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
