About the role

The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the registered nurse. Responsible for implementing components of the plan of care through the initiation and completion of procedures relating to basic human, mental health and social needs; comfort, safety and emergency measures; activities of daily living; personal care needs; nutrition and fluid needs; and elimination needs. For the Maternity position, the candidate must have venipuncture experience.

Responsibilities

• Measure vital signs
• Perform ECGs
• Perform venipuncture
• Perform IV placement
• Perform capillary blood glucose testing
• Perform Unit Secretary duties
• Perform Patient Transport duties
• Perform Environment of Care duties

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Successful completion of Nurses Aide or Medical Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation program, EMT training program, or Nursing student with satisfactory completion of Nursing 101 clinical or equivalent clinical rotation
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Venipuncture experience (required for Maternity position)

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in a related patient care role (preferred)
