About the role
Under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, the Patient Care Technician II in the Adult Emergency Department delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, performing blood draws, and collecting specimen samples. This position plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety and comfort, supporting admissions, transfers, and discharges, and collaborating with the healthcare team to monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
Responsibilities
- Manage catheter care and conduct blood glucose monitoring
- Perform venipuncture and IV placement
- Assist with wound care and enteral feedings
- Operate EKG machines
- Respond promptly to patient alarms
- Maintain a safe clinical environment
- Ensure patient rooms and supplies are well-stocked
- Mentor junior technicians
- Strictly adhere to safety protocols to enhance patient outcomes
- Facilitate efficient patient flow during night shifts
