About the role
The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Support patient care activities as directed by a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Assist with patient transfers, ambulation, and positioning.
- Provide basic patient care including hygiene, feeding, and medication administration under supervision.
- Assist with patient education and discharge planning as needed.
Requirements
- One of the following:
- Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic, or a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist;
- National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); which must be maintained active during employment;
- Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam: currently be enrolled in or a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN), complete the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN, and cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN.
- For those not meeting the above requirements, employees hired without the above licensure and/or by years of experience only prior to 11/11/19, are grandfathered in and will have the option of obtaining the stipulated licensure.

- Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
