Patient Care Technician Float Pool

About the role

Schedules up to 36 hours per week, rotating weekends and holidays. Supports nursing staff with patient care tasks, maintains patient rooms, aids with patient movements, assists with personal care, reports changes in patient conditions, documents accurately, monitors patient conditions, ensures medical equipment function, communicates effectively, follows safety protocols, participates in training, and may be assigned patient sitter duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms
• Aids with movement and placement of patients
• Aids with personal care and activities of daily living
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff
• Documents necessary records accurately and timely
• Makes sure medical equipment is functioning properly
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Fulfills safety and infection control protocols
• Participates in training and development activities
• May be assigned patient sitter duties

Requirements

• High School Grad or Equivalent
• 1+ applicable PCT experience
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
• Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A)
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)
