About the role
The Patient Care Technician performs tasks supportive to delivery of patient care in assigned departments under the direction of a Registered Nurse. May float to all Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS) hospital Campuses.
Required Qualifications
- One of the following:
- Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic, or a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT); which must be maintained active during employment;
- Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam are required to:
- currently be enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN);
- have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN;
- cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN;
- Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation. Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.

- BHS EQ: High School Diploma, GED or Certificate
