Patient Care Technician - ED Observation Unit
About the Role
This position involves providing patient care, assisting with procedures, and supporting therapies such as physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary treatments. The candidate performs core nursing assistant duties including vital signs, specimen collection, and Foley care, while also executing at least four specialized tasks like phlebotomy, EKG, dressing changes, or IV removal. They ensure equipment issues are reported, communicate effectively across departments, and foster respectful relationships. The role includes instructing patients and families, supporting safety and workplace policies, and documenting care accurately. Additionally, the technician may develop advanced skills such as phlebotomy, IV removal, or EKG interpretation based on departmental needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care and assist with medical procedures
- Support physical, respiratory, and cardiopulmonary therapies
- Perform core nursing assistant duties: vital signs, specimen collection, Foley care
- Execute specialized tasks such as phlebotomy, EKG, dressing changes, or IV removal

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Healthcare experience or relevant training
- Completion of a patient care technician program
- eRecord training
Qualifications & Skills
- Preferred certifications: EMT, Paramedic, CPR, ACLS
