Patient Care Technician - Dialysis - PCT

Overview

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support and collaborate with Registered Nurses (RNs) in providing dialysis treatment to several patients at a time. This role involves prepping and testing equipment, reviewing treatment sheets, and opening the clinic at 4 am for the first shift.

Job Description

• Support and collaborate with RNs to provide dialysis treatment to several patients at a time.
• Prep and test equipment, review treatment sheets, and open the clinic at 4 am for the first shift.
• Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders, including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD).
• Evaluate patients’ response to dialysis therapy and monitor their vital signs before reinfusion.
• Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures and evaluate the patient prior to termination of venous access.
• Perform and document interventions for unusual patient status and report any significant changes in patient condition.
• Evaluate vascular access during treatment, including arterial and venous monitoring pressures, and provide appropriate intervention as needed.
• Obtain all prescribed laboratory testing and prepare specimens for collection.
• Ensure all blood spills are cleaned with appropriate disinfectant according to facility policy.
• Prepare, organize, and efficiently utilize supplies and equipment to prevent wastage.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment.

Success Profile

• Prior customer service, healthcare, and direct patient care experience.
• Genuine passion for developing deep relationships with patients and improving their quality of life.
• Strong management skills and the ability to inspire a multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience in managing daily operations of outpatient centers.
