Patient Care Technician
About the role
The START Center for Cancer Research (“START”) is the world’s largest early phase site network, fully dedicated to oncology clinical research. Throughout our history, START has provided hope to cancer patients in global community practices by offering "Hope Through Access" to cutting edge trials throughout the United States and Europe. We are hiring a Patient Care Technician.
Essential Responsibilities
- Aid professional nurses and/or physicians in conducting examinations.
- Discuss patients' condition with nursing team.
- Draw blood and obtain specimens for clinical and research laboratory testing, where permitted by applicable law and organizational policy.
- Take vital signs.
- Perform ECGs.
- Prepare patients for examinations, tests and treatments and explain procedures.
- Record necessary information for review by nurses or physicians.
- May assist with clinical research or perform other specialized duties requiring supplemental training.
- Inventory and requisition of supplies and instruments.
- Set up equipment and prepare medical exam rooms.
- Prepare charts and lab requisitions for the next clinic day.
Required Education And Experience
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Current BLS certification.
- One (1) year of patient care experience.
- Previous oncology and/or clinical trials experience.
- Phlebotomy Certification.
Preferred Education And Experience
- One (1) year of patient care experience.
- Previous oncology and/or clinical trials experience.
- Phlebotomy Certification.
Pay
The hourly pay for this role is $26-$28/hour. However, base pay may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Work Schedule: 8:00 am-5:00 pm EST, Monday-Friday
