About the role

DaVita is looking for a Patient Care Technician to serve patients at our Lakeville Dialysis Clinic. We provide robust, paid training to help you learn the necessary dialysis skills. Training is a mix of classroom and hands-on instruction and may take place in a facility or a training clinic with a class of new teammates.

Operational hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Patient Care Technicians typically work 10-12 hour shifts, 3-4 days a week. Hours may vary during the training period, but you will typically work 32-40 hours per week. A flexible schedule is required, including availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

DaVita offers reimbursement for your Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) license.

Requirements

  • Desire to enter the health care field to care for people in need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Comfortable working around blood and needles
  • Comfortable mixing acid or bicarb
  • Flexibility and availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Physical and mental ability to work long hours (some shifts are 12+ hours) on your feet
  • Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory as needed
  • Health care experience preferred, including: BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct one-on-one patient care to ensure safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment for up to 4 patients at a time
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording stats and patient observations
  • Set up hemodialysis machines
  • Build long-term relationships with patients suffering from end-stage renal disease, who receive treatment on average 3 times per week
  • Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics
  • Work as part of a cross-functional team of clinicians, including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership, under the supervision of a registered nurse
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by helping enhance processes for patients and teammates

Schedule

Shifts can begin as early as 4:30 AM and vary based on patient needs. Your expected shift will be shared during the interview process.

Pay

The wage range for this role is $18.50 - $28.50 per hour. Compensation depends on qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
