About the Role
Provides supportive patient care under supervision of a registered nurse, assisting with hygiene, activity, nutrition, elimination, monitoring, and therapeutic procedures. Ensures patient safety, comfort, and privacy while documenting observations and interventions. Embodies safety, courtesy, quality, and efficiency standards to promote optimal care and unit functioning.
Responsibilities
- Performs and documents nursing care measures tailored to patient needs
- Assists with activities such as bathing, ambulation, feeding, and position changes
- Monitors vital signs, weights, and patient responses
- Supports patient hygiene, safety, and comfort, including perineal, ostomy, and catheter care
- Responds promptly to patient requests and call lights
- Implements therapeutic measures like applying heat, cold, dressings, and oxygen therapy
- Maintains safety protocols, proper body mechanics, and infection control
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and care team
- Supports efficient unit operations, inventory management, and adherence to policies
- Completes additional tasks based on specific training and competence
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred; relevant certification (CNA, Medical Assistant) or nursing school enrollment with clinical experience, or equivalent work experience
- CPR certification required
- Basic computer skills and equipment competency
- Effective communication, observation, and documentation skills
- Commitment to safety, courtesy, quality, and efficiency standards
