About the role

This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. In addition, this role involves performing various nursing support duties such as preparing patient rooms for admission, maintaining a clean and safe environment, prioritizing patient care, transporting patients, cleaning and operating equipment safely, assisting with meals, performing technical tasks, collecting and recording patient data, and providing clerical support.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes patient care according to nursing direction and discharge plan.
  • Transports patient to procedures/discharge within/from hospital as directed.
  • Cleans and operates equipment safely and correctly.
  • Prepares patients for meals, assists with meals or feeds patient as necessary.
  • Performs technical tasks, including use of glucometer, lift assisted devices, and collect specimens.
  • Collects, records, and reports accurate patient data in a timely manner.
  • Provides clerical support as needed.
  • Greets visitors in a professional, friendly manner and directs to appropriate destination.
  • Answers phone in professional and friendly manner and directs caller to appropriate person.
  • Screens all persons requesting access to the department for appropriateness of entry.
  • Enforces department security policies.
  • Completes administrative duties regarding patient admission, transfer, and discharges in an organized and timely manner.
  • Maintains paper components in each patient chart.
  • Ensures that the patient and family members are attended to in a caring and attentive manner, responding to the needs of patients/family members in a timely manner and maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Works cohesively as a member of the patient care team, anticipating the needs of team members.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and caring relationship with each patient, family and team member.
  • Reports variances in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Participates in department meetings and in-service programs on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • One (1) year of healthcare experience and nursing service experience preferred.
  • Certified patient care, clinical associate, certified nursing assistant or equivalent preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, visitors, and hospital personnel.
  • The ability to work as a team member, promoting a caring and collegial attitude toward others.
  • The ability to work under stressful conditions, adapting to the changing pace on the unit, frequent interruptions, emergencies and critically ill patients.
  • The ability to recognize patient data relative to age specific needs and provide care as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
  • The ability to organize and prioritize work.

$20.12 - $25.15
