About the Role
The Patient Care Tech – Clinic plays a key role in increasing efficiency, productivity, and patient and team satisfaction. This position performs uncomplicated tasks under the direct supervision of a work area nurse.
Responsibilities
- Collects patient information and obtains and records vital signs, reporting findings to provider or RN with timely documentation.
- Performs chart review and pre-visit planning prior to clinic visits.
- Produces and manages schedule tracking and referral reports.
- Prepares and mails annual appointment paperwork; orders labs for pre-visit planning according to guidelines or protocols.
- Schedules patient appointments, referrals, procedures, and tests.
- Orders drugs, medical supplies, and vaccines for the clinic; processes all vaccine orders (stock & VFC as needed).
- Assists with vendor requests, coupons, and samples as needed.
- Coordinates prescription assistance programs and pre/prior authorizations for clinic patients.
- Performs other related tasks as appropriate.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Courses in Medical Terminology.
- Nurse Aid training or non-certified graduate of a medical assistant program.
- EMT, CNA, or other healthcare-related certifications.
- Experience working with protected health information and electronic health records.
- Two years of medical/clinical office experience.
