Responsibilities

• Affords assistance in delivering patient care: obtains vital signs, assists with feeding, toileting, hygiene care, finger-stick blood sugar readings, maintains skin integrity, performs EKGs, and ambulates and transfers patients.
• Performs routine procedures such as surgical skin preps and enemas.
• Schedules diagnostic procedures/tests/appointments, effectively communicating and coordinating with physicians, charge nurses, direct caregivers, ancillary departments, and other facilities.
• Answers call lights promptly and notifies relevant personnel of patient needs.
• Demonstrates service excellence and collaborates to achieve unit goals for patient satisfaction.
• Recognizes and addresses significant changes in patient condition.
• Collects and reports patient information/data, ensuring confidentiality.
• Enters charges for procedures, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Reports problems or concerns to the appropriate person or department and assists in resolving them.
• Maintains flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork.
• Communicates professionally and positively, projecting a good image of the Medical Center.
• Performs VS, height, weight, and visual acuity in triage.
• Assists with sterile field setup for suturing and procedures.
• Performs other patient care activities as directed by the RN.

Requirements

• Previous hospital experience preferred.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently without constant supervision.
• Current BLS certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
