Departmental Overview: Our Surgical Unit has thirty-two beds and cares for patients with both surgical and non-surgical conditions through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. Our team of nurses and patient care techs collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible treatment for our patients.

About the role

Provides basic patient care, assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, takes and records vital signs, and relays information to the patient's nurse. Facilitates patient processing, provides general nursing care and routine treatments, offers clerical and receptionist support, and performs additional duties related to the specific needs of the department.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Certification as a nursing assistant or 6 months of recent experience as a nursing assistant
  • Six (6) months of recent experience as a nursing assistant
  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant, or one clinical semester of nursing school, or successful completion of an acute care nurse aide course; or six (6) months previous experience in a healthcare position can substitute for the experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) must be maintained through re-training for the duration of employment

Pay

$14.29–$23.34/hour depending on previous work experience, plus differentials:

  • Evening differential: $1.50/hour
  • Night differential: $1.75/hour
  • Weekend differential: $1.75/hour

Schedule

7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, full-time day shift
