Responsibilities

The Patient Care Technician collaborates with licensed nurses to support the safe and compassionate delivery of patient care in a healing environment. Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the PCT performs delegated tasks and demonstrates advanced skills in providing care to age-specific patient populations.

• Record data in accordance with policy
• Report patient observations and concerns
• Assist with both clinical and non-clinical duties
• Obtain vital signs
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
• Collect lab specimens
• Support patient monitoring
• Complete advanced unit-based competencies and skill validations

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of approved CNA/PCT certification program or enrolled as a student with less than one semester left in an approved certification program or 6 months of previous experience in a specialty tech position
• For emergency room departments, an EMT Basic certification may substitute for CNA/PCT certification; paramedic license may fulfill certification requirements
• Must maintain active certification in the State of Kansas
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care

Qualifications

Preferred:

• 3+ years of experience in acute or long-term care settings
• Experience in Med-Surg Nursing or Emergency Room (ER) departments
