Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical and clinical support to the department to contribute to an effective and organized unit.
  • Maintain files, medical records, and unit forms in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Complete and maintain Electronic Birth Certificate documents to ensure legal registration of newborns per KDHE statutes.
  • Perform daily unit charge review and reconciliation; escalate concerns to the billing department to ensure accurate charge capture and billing of services rendered.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to patient call lights, and screen unit visitors before allowing entry.
  • Run reports on unscheduled c-section patients and coordinate with office staff to ensure appropriate follow-up appointments are scheduled.
  • Greet patients arriving for scheduled procedures or triage; room patients and document in Epic.
  • Obtain copies of patient ID cards and print consent-to-treat forms.
  • Complete Quality Control Audits and EHR audits as requested by the department manager.
  • Perform clinical tasks to meet patient care and unit needs, including but not limited to:
    • Transporting specimens
    • Obtaining vital signs
    • Assisting with patient toileting
    • Obtaining lab specimens
    • Completing POC glucose testing
    • Bathing patients
    • Patient rounding
    • Transporting patients
    • Any task within the scope of practice

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
