Responsibilities
- Collaborates with licensed nurses to support the safe and compassionate delivery of patient care in a healing environment
- Performs delegated tasks under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Demonstrates advanced skills in providing care to age-specific patient populations
- Records data in accordance with policy
- Reports patient observations and concerns
- Assists with both clinical and non-clinical duties
- Obtains vital signs
- Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding
- Collects lab specimens
- Supports patient monitoring
- Completes advanced unit-based competencies and skill validations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of approved CNA/PCT certification program or enrollment in an approved certification program with less than one semester left, or 6 months of previous experience in a specialty tech position
- For emergency room departments, an EMT Basic certification may substitute for CNA/PCT certification; paramedic license may fulfill certification requirements
- Maintain active certification in the State of Kansas
- BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care
