About the role

As a Patient Care Technician/Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC), you will work under the supervision of nurses and doctors to care for patients and assist with the paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly. PCTs help patients feel better and get healthy again by performing a variety of essential duties.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
• Assist patients with mobility, dressing, eating, hygiene, and weighing.
• Collect samples like urine and report any changes in a patient’s condition to a nurse.
• Help with patient walks, hygiene tasks, and other patient care activities.
• Assist with paperwork and administrative tasks to support smooth hospital operations.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

Training

• BLS CPR certification required. Training can be provided during orientation if not already obtained.

Experience

• No prior job experience required.
• Completion of STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
• Experience caring for patients in the past 5 years (e.g., taking temperatures, bathing, assisting with restroom needs).
• Currently enrolled in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation completed.

Skills

• Ability to multitask and remain composed under interruptions.
• Proficiency in using a computer.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and listening abilities.
• Prior hospital work experience is a plus.
