Shift

  • 6:30 am–3:00 pm
  • 2:30 pm–11:00 pm
  • 10:30 pm–7:00 am

Every other weekend and 3 holidays per year required for full-time and part-time team members.

About the role

The Patient Care Tech (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family well-being, including concepts of relationship-based care.

Patients served include adults with hematologic and oncologic illness, such as solid tumors, malignancies, and terminal illness. The department offers a variety of therapeutic interventions, from chemotherapy to palliative care services.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in completing activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
    • Bathing, showering, toileting
    • Positioning, turning, transferring
    • Ambulation using assistive devices
    • Feeding and menu selection
  • Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures
  • Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters
  • Record patient information and required data to meet documentation requirements

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term care) or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course
  • Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program
