Patient Care Tech - Oncology

About the Role

Full-time position in the Oncology Department at Piedmont Athens Regional in Athens, GA. This unit serves medical oncology, surgical oncology, comfort care, and inpatient hospice patients. The department is CoC accredited, offering multiple education opportunities for the team to provide informed, oncology-centered care. Nurses are or become chemotherapy/biotherapy administration certified through ONS, with a focus on administering and educating patients and their support systems about these medications. The team is committed to delivering compassionate, high-quality care from admission to discharge.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients from birth through the lifecycle under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.
• Demonstrate competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.
• Patient ratios are determined by volume and acuity of patient needs; extenuating circumstances may adjust ratios.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• No prior experience required; 1 year of patient care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support (required upon hire).
• CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant (preferred).
• Certification from a Patient Care Technician program (preferred).
