Patient Care Technician
The Patient Care Technician, working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, is primarily responsible for providing direct, non-invasive bedside care to patients. This position integrates company values into daily practice.

Essential Functions
- Prioritizes and delivers basic patient care, including bathing, toileting, feeding, grooming, etc.
- Performs and documents vital signs, measures and records intake and output, weights, specimen collections, etc.
- Transfers patients utilizing proper body mechanics and safe patient handling techniques.
- Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patient to appropriate nursing personnel.
- Affords assistance in preparing unit, patient rooms, and patient beds for receiving patient admissions.
- Maintains bed and room in a clean, neat, safe, and comfortable manner.
- Removes supplies and equipment not in use; placing furnishings and equipment out of the path in order to provide a safe, neat, and organized area.
- Affords assistance in maintaining a physical, social, and psychological environment conducive to providing maximal patient comfort and optimizing healing.
- Promptly and appropriately responds to patient and family calls and requests.
- Affords assistance in appropriately designating applicable charges to individual patients using hospital’s established system.
- May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
- Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Affords assistance in assessing environmental risks for safety and implementing appropriate precautions.
- Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
- Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
- Completes required trainings, as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Minimum Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred. 2 years of experience in inpatient hospital setting preferred.
- Required Licenses, Certifications, And/or Documentation: Current BLS required.

- Knowledge of current clinical operations and procedures.
- Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate Infection Prevention and proper body mechanics.
- Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards.
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
Physical Requirements
- Over The Course Of a Shift: A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
- Gross and precise motor functions.
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
- Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
- Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
