About the Role
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN, you will assist with patients’ activities of daily living and their plan of care. You will communicate with and support the healthcare team, patients, and/or the patient’s family or significant others while maintaining high standards of professional ethics.
Responsibilities
- Support activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
- Demonstrate standard precautions, including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practices.
- Perform technical duties as directed by RN/LPN, such as vital signs, point-of-care testing, bladder scanning, and foley catheter care specific to the population served, and document appropriately.
- Perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
- Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN/LPN and respond appropriately.
- Reinforce education of patients and families/responsible parties regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
- Participate in Virtua patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities.
- Assist in the orientation of new hires.
Requirements
- Demonstrates required knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures, and standards.
- Strong communication skills.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Grade Equivalent Diploma (GED) required.
- Successfully completed a PCT course, a fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, Certified Nursing Assistant program, or have worked an equivalent of 1 year of direct patient care.
- BLS certification.
- Phlebotomy training/education is required for Emergency Department positions.
- Enhances skills through ongoing education and training.
- Maintains regulatory and departmental level competencies.
Pay
$19.54 - $29.20 hourly.
