About the role

The Patient Care Tech (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family wellbeing, including concepts of relationship-based care.

This role supports a wide variety of general surgery patients, including colorectal, hepatobiliary, thyroid/parathyroid, vascular, and trauma.

Schedule

Shifts available:

• 6:30 am – 3:00 pm
• 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm
• 10:30 pm – 7:00 am

Status: Full-time or Part-time. Every other weekend and holiday per year required for both full-time and part-time team members.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term care) or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program

Responsibilities

• Assist patients in completing activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
  • Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, and transferring
  • Ambulation using assistive devices
  • Feeding and menu selection
• Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures
• Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters
• Record patient information and required data to meet documentation requirements

Training is provided to prepare colleagues for success.
