About the role

Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) work under the supervision of nurses to provide direct patient care in the Cardiac Telemetry Unit. PCTs assist with monitoring vital signs, mobility support, hygiene, specimen collection, and reporting changes in patient condition to ensure safe and effective care.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
  • Assist patients with mobility, dressing, eating, hygiene, and weighing.
  • Collect patient samples, including urine.
  • Report any changes in a patient’s condition to the nurse.
  • Assist with patient walks and other care-related tasks as directed.
  • Support unit operations by helping with paperwork and administrative tasks to maintain smooth hospital functioning.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS CPR certification (training available during orientation if not already obtained).

Qualifications

  • Completion of STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
  • Prior patient care experience within the last 5 years (e.g., taking temperatures, bathing, assisting with toileting).
  • Currently enrolled in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation completed.

Skills

  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and listening communication abilities.
  • Prior hospital experience is a plus.

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, 36 hours per week / 72 hours per pay period.
