About the role
Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) provide personal care, health-related services, and assist with activities of daily living. PCTs function under the direction, instruction, and supervision of nursing staff. PCTs have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, improvement initiatives, and continuing education. Medical/Surgical PCTs provide care for primarily adult patients before and after surgical procedures; they also attend to those who are being treated to manage illness.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and health-related services
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Function under the direction, instruction, and supervision of nursing staff
- Participate in committee activities, surveys, improvement initiatives, and continuing education
- Provide care for primarily adult patients before and after surgical procedures
- Attend to patients being treated to manage illness
Requirements
- No previous experience required
- BLS certification required
- Must be able to attend 3-day training class (Wednesday–Friday, 8:00–5:00) upon hire
