Patient Care Tech Ancillary Float Pool- Full time - Evening Shift
About the Role
This role focuses on providing professional and non-professional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. As a member of the Patient Care Team, you will ensure that patients and family members are attended to in a caring and attentive manner, responding to their needs promptly while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor. This position involves performing nursing support duties under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and registered nurses.
This is a clinical technologist role requiring specialized knowledge or skills gained through vocational education, training, and experience. It is an experienced-level position that requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools, working under moderate supervision.
Schedule
32-40 hours per week, evening shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM). Required to work every other weekend (Saturday & Sunday) and 2 summer and 2 winter holiday shifts.
Location
Lowell General Hospital (Main & Saints Campus) - Ancillary Float Pool.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of a nurse, perform all aspects of activities of daily living (ADLs) to optimize patient safety.
- Prepare patient rooms for admission and maintain a clean, safe environment.
- Prioritize patient care according to nursing direction and discharge plans.
- Transport patients to procedures or discharge within/from the hospital as directed.
- Clean and operate equipment safely and correctly.
- Prepare patients for meals, assist with meals, or feed patients as necessary.
- Perform technical tasks such as using a glucometer, lift-assisted devices, and collecting specimens.
- Collect, record, and report accurate patient data in a timely manner.
- Perform the duties of a Patient Sitter, maintaining continuous observation of patients as outlined in sitter guidelines.
- Provide clerical support as needed, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and screening access to the department.
- Enforce department security policies and complete administrative duties related to patient admission, transfer, and discharge.
- Maintain paper components in each patient chart.
- Work cohesively as a member of the patient care team, anticipating team needs and maintaining positive relationships with patients, families, and team members.
- Report variances in accordance with hospital policy.
- Participate in department meetings and in-service programs regularly.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- One (1) year of healthcare experience and nursing service experience.
- Certified Patient Care, Clinical Associate, Certified Nursing Assistant, or equivalent certification.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting up to 30-35 lbs and turning patients.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
- Manual dexterity for fine hand manipulation, including operating a computer keyboard.
- Ability to see computer screens and reports.

Pay
Pay Range: $20.12 - $25.15 per hour.
