About the role

The Patient Care Supervisor position is located in the NICU Unit at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This position is 64 hours per two weeks on the Day/Evening shift, working 8 hour shifts, and is eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise/lead day-to-day or shift-to-shift operations to ensure support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization.
  • Plan, lead, coordinate and evaluate patient care activities including staffing, resource management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, and financial management.
  • Prioritize assignments to assure timely, productive, and efficient use of resources.
  • Lead equipment inventory and supply management within operational budget.
  • Collaborate with nursing, provider leadership and other partners to implement and evaluate standards of practice.
  • Collect and analyze quality data and apply process improvement methodology to ensure delivery of safe and quality patient care.
  • Lead department change and act as a change agent in system change, procedure change and process changes.
  • Ensure unit protocols, benchmarks, and hospital procedures are initiated appropriately.
  • Develop, implement, supervise and evaluate quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage human resources to achieve quality service and positive employee relations.
  • Achieve compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Advocate for patient, family and staff needs.
  • Drive improvement activities that promote patient-centered care and positive customer experience.
  • Ensure staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency.
  • Promote a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in nursing, health care administration, business administration or related field.
  • Two years of nursing experience, at least one of which in a formal or informal (charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Knowledge of patient population served in area of responsibility.
  • Master’s degree in nursing, health care administration, business administration or related field preferred.
  • Master’s degree in nursing, health care administration, business administration or related field preferred.
  • ANCC or AONL Certification preferred.
  • Prior NICU experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • If Master’s degree is in nursing or healthcare, Bachelor’s degree in other area of study will be accepted.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification.
  • NRP Certification within 6 months of hire.

Skills and abilities in provision of patient care, ensuring unit protocols, benchmarks, and hospital procedures are initiated appropriately, leading equipment inventory and supply management, collaborating with nursing, provider leadership and other partners to implement and evaluate standards of practice, collecting and analyzing quality data, applying process improvement methodology, driving improvement activities that promote patient-centered care and positive customer experience, ensuring staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency, promoting a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research.

Pay

The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.

Schedule

This position is 64 hours per two weeks on the Day/Evening shift, working 8 hour shifts.
