Patient Care Representative

Full-time position located in Enfield, CT, with a schedule of 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments (new patient appointments, sick visits, physicals, office visits).
  • Answer telephone calls and process requests.
  • Process and file e-faxed documents into the appropriate patient’s chart.
  • Process incoming and outgoing medical records requests.
  • Scan paperwork into the appropriate patient’s chart.
  • Monitor patient portal messages and respond as appropriate.
  • E-fax referrals, school physical forms, and other patient paperwork to designated locations.
  • Greet and check-in patients for appointments.
  • Verify patient demographic information (insurance, address, phone number, etc.).
  • Obtain all necessary signatures, insurance cards, and IDs.
  • Collect co-pays and balances from patients.
  • Check patients out, schedule follow-ups, and monitor when patients are due for a physical.
  • Review upcoming appointments to anticipate needs, supplies, and completeness.
  • Notify patients about labs due for their physical and/or medication check appointments, as appropriate.
  • Report needed supplies for ordering to Practice Manager as inventory is used.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years medical office experience or equivalent required.
  • Athena experience preferred.
  • Must reside in New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, or Massachusetts.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for influenza.

Skills

  • Strong computer skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience with health insurance.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Frequently required to maintain a stationary position and move or traverse.
  • Ability to transport and/or maneuver objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Vision abilities including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Dexterity necessary to utilize a computer keyboard regularly.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment subject to frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
