5B at the Bayhealth Sussex campus is a 24-bed Progressive Care Unit equipped with 5 ICU headboards. The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit, emphasizing quality and safety. Professional nursing practices require specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill, performed using the nursing process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures, and philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, professional nursing care to a specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
- Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
- Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
- Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
- Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
- Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
- Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
- Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
- Demonstrate standards of excellence, including practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
- Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (for RN evaluation).
- Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles (for RN evaluation).
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
- Perform all other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
- Credential(s): Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support.
- ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe.
- Commit to seeking specialty certification within the timeframe indicated during the interview.

Pay
Salary range: $37.98 - $58.87 hourly.
Schedule
- Status: Full Time, 72 Hours Biweekly.
- Shift: Nights, 12-Hour Shifts.

Sussex Campus Hospital, Milford, Delaware.
