Patient Care Registered Nurse RN - Progressive Care Unit

The 5B unit at Bayhealth Medical Center’s Sussex Campus is a 24-bed Progressive Care Unit equipped with 5 ICU headboards. It participates in Nurse Governance, Nurse Residency, and boasts excellent teamwork and leadership. Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified patients in the acute care setting.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
• Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
• Demonstrate standards of excellence by practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
• Demonstrate understanding and execution of quality and performance improvement plans (for RN evaluation).
• Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles (for RN evaluation).
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.

Requirements

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Associate Degree Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe.
• Experience: Required experience in relevant specialty. Preference given to candidates with experience in Progressive Care Units.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Delaware.
• Current BLS certification.
• Completion of ACLS / PALS if required by manager.

Pay

SALARY RANGE: $37.98 - $58.87 per hour.

Schedule

Shift: Nights 12-hour shifts.
