About the role

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) Novice position at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is an entry-level role for individuals who are either graduates of the Patient Care Tech (PCT) program, have participated in the PCA immersion program/internship, or are certified nursing assistants (CNAs) or medical assistants (CMAs).

Responsibilities

• Document care administered, diagnostic measurements, treatments and procedures as per policy and procedure.
• Communicate appropriately and carry out delegated tasks for an age-specific, diverse patient population.
• Respond to the call light system and record data as per policy and procedure.
• Report observations and patient problems to the licensed nurse.
• Perform assigned non-nursing functions.
• Practice Patient and Family Centered Care in line with Houston Methodist's ICARE values.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of the Patient Care Tech (PCT) program, internal employee participating in the PCA immersion program/internship, CNA, or CMA certified through an approved credentialing agency.
• Required BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association certification within 1 month.
